June 2017 Cost Forum Available

We had a great turnout at the May Program. A special thanks to Ashok Iyengar for sharing his experience leading the operational scheduling efforts of the ENR top ranked contractor, the challenges he has overcome along the way, and some insightful tools that helps him and his team keep things on track.

At the meeting we also announced our next outing, which will be a construction site tour of the Museum of the Bible in SW DC, by the Clark Construction field staff. They will give us lunch and a brief presentation on how their team manages the 430,000 square foot, $237,000,000 museum in regards to cost and schedule followed by a tour of the under construction facility. A limited amount of tickets are available so get yours today!. Additional details can be found below.

This will be the last Cost Forum for the 2016-2017 year. We will be taking a break in the summer and come back with a lineup of some great programming with topics such as early stage financial planning for major programs, 4D scheduling, and cost controls through the life cycle of a project, along with joint sessions with other local professional groups including CMAA, Washington Building Congress and the Association of General Contractors. I want to thank all the volunteers on the Board and those who come out to the events this year. I am encouraged by the turnout at our meetings this year: we doubled our average of the past year to over 24 people at each event. My goal for this year was to bring a recognizable value to our members, and I hope that you have taken advantage of what we have offered. I will continue that mission into 2018.

Certification Training
Based on feedback from the section, we will be hosting a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) Training course this summer. We will most likely hold it over the course of 1-2 weekends. Additional details to come. Please send an email to aacei.ncs.president@gmail.com if interested.

Scholarships
In 2016, we awarded $4,500 in scholarships to 3 full time students in from Universities around the area, Nicholas Yager, Cameron White, and Spenser Peterson, based on their impressive academic and extra curricular resumes, as well as their essay responses to the question "Why is Planning a Crucial Element in Project Controls".
