Greetings,
My name is Regis Fox, and I’m the new President of the National Capital Section of AACE International for the 2016-2018 term. I would like to congratulate Bob Frees on his tremendous leadership of the NCS over the past few years, earning us Platinum Awards from the National Office for both 2015 and 2016, extending our Platinum streak to 5 consecutive years. The Board and I look forward to continuing his legacy and aim to exceed the high bar he has set for us.
My main focus as President will be to provide a recognizable value to our membership. I understand that time is our most valuable commodity, and we all choose to spend our time on activities that will provide the most benefit to ourselves, our families, and our communities. I want all of our members to understand the benefits the NCS provides, and use them to maximize your professional growth.
Although our Section is one of the largest in the country, with over 250 members, our average attendance for meetings last year was 12. The Board and I hope to change this by providing new program formats, such as panel discussions, site tours, round table discussions, and workshops, with topics that appeal to our wide range of interests and professions, and avoiding the “death by PowerPoint”.
This summer, we have invested in tools to better communicate with the membership. We have a brand new website, www.aacei-ncs.com, that we will update with program information, job postings, regional news, professional resources and guides, and much more. We have an event management system to better coordinate each monthly program, which integrates with our new mail server. We are introducing a webinar platform, which will allow members to attend programs and earn Continuing Education Units (CEU), while avoiding DC traffic during the week.
I encourage each of you to join our LinkedIn group, here, where we hope to use this social / professional platform to foster interactions between our members.
We are actively looking for company sponsorships to provide these benefits and programs to our members at minimal costs. We also have a few vacancies on the Board to fill this Fall. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to get involved; it is a great leadership opportunity and earns Continuing Education Units.

The Cost Forum is the newsletter for the National Capital Section (NCS) of AACE International. Its purpose is to inform members of the activities and policies of the NCS and to provide pertinent technical and professional information.
Articles are welcomed from the membership, friends of the NCS, from the industry and related professional societies. Advertising space in the newsletter is available. Advertisements from companies seeking cost management professionals seeking employment are published in the newsletter.
